We just returned from our trip to Hospital Buen Samaritano in La Romana, Dominican Republic, November 24th - December 1st, 2012. While there our surgical team saw 77 patients and performed 105 procedures, our vein team saw 11 patients and performed 56 procedures and our dental team saw 178 patients and performed 193 procedures for a total of 266 patients and 354 procedures! Thank you all for your support!

How We Began
Dr. Dennis Gore and Dr. Umbert Hart began their medical training at University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston, TX in 1980. Dr. Gore is now a General Surgeon on faculty at UTMB and Dr. Hart is an anesthesiologist in private practice in Bryan, TX. Both doctors have participated in medical missions during their years in practice. After the death of Dr. Hart's father, who was also a physician, Dr. Gore encouraged Dr. Hart and friends to form an organization that could help provide medical and surgical care to the indigent people of the island of Hispaniola, the home of Dr. Hart's family. They formed Hispaniola Medical Charity (HMC) which is now a 501(c)(3) and is collecting monetary donations as well as medicines, medical and surgical supplies and equipment.
With the help of Hospital Buen Samaritano www.hospitalbuensamaritano.org, HMC was able to make our first surgical and dental mission trip to La Romana, Dominican Republic in November 24- December 1st, 2012. We also have ties and have helped donate equioment to the clinic named after Dr. Hart's father in the village of Esparaza in the Dominican Republic through willingservantministries.org and the Samaritan Foundation www.thesamaritanfoundationdr.com
